Since the announcement at last year’s Comic-Con San Diego that Superman would be joined by Batman in the follow up film to 2013’s Man of Steel, other than the slew of casting announcements in the last few months, very little information is known about the film’s plot.
The film will also include the final piece of DC Comics’ Holy Trinity with Wonder Woman, while the main antagonist is Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor, who will be played by Jesse Eisenberg.
Eisenberg was recently at a press junket to promote Rio 2 and told MTV that he wouldn’t be allowed to speak to anyone about the film the for next six years, which some feel could be slight of the hand that he has signed on to play the baddie beyond the tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman film, Movie Pilot reported.

What fanboys know so far is that filming will be begin in April with a May 6, 2016 release date. If that date sounds familiar, it’s because it is also the same date Marvel Studios has reserved for an unannounced film that will be the latest installment for Phase Three of its cinematic universe.
Speculation and rumors have run rampant that the mystery Marvel date will be its boy in red and blue, Captain America, which will serve as the third feature film for the Star-Spangled Man following next week’s release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
And while many comic book fanboys have already been placing their bets on who will win this momentous showdown between two publishing powerhouses, DC and Marvel Comics, no word from Marvel Studios has lent any credence to the rumors.
Marvel Studios Producer Kevin Feige won’t budge on what the mystery movie is, but he has said that the studio will not change the film’s date just because Warner Bros. moved up its king, queen and knight to the same day.
Forbes columnist Mark Hughes theorized that there would not be showdown whatsoever.
“Well, the reality is that of course there isn’t going to be any true May 6th confrontation between these films. And I don’t believe anybody at either studio ever seriously thought there would be,” Hughes wrote. “Neither studio actually wants the other to fail or wants to sink one another’s films or franchises. Fans think this way. The press thinks this way.”
Despite the uncertainty for either scenario, the cast of the Captain America sequel has already started weighing on the potential bout.
While promoting the film’s release in the U.K., the Russo brothers who directed the film and will direct the third one as well, Anthony and Joe, said they just want to make the best movie possible, according to IGN.
However, Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson’s words weren’t bashful of the competition.
“In other words, punks step up to get beat down!” Mackie said.
Jackson also added that the DC universe has “interesting bad guys,” while the Marvel universe is full of heroes.
