January Brings New Superman Costume, Multiversity Guide and More From DC …

The DC Comics January 2015 solicitations brought up far more questions than they actually answered — but what a bunch of questions they are! As always, the solicits take a look at upcoming titles and more than a few plot points that readers should watch out for, including a change of wardrobe for Superman, the continuation of the “Justice League International” connection to “Justice League 3000” and much more.

One of DC’s biggest — and possibly most informative — titles in January is Grant Morrison’s “The Multiversity Guidebook” that contains “everything you ever wanted to know about DC’s parallel worlds and their super-heroic inhabitants” — and considering the final page of “Superman: Doomed”, there’s likely going to be a lot in “The Multiversity Guidebook” that will point readers to the next step of what DC has planned.

Geoff Johns and John Romita, Jr.’s “Superman” #38 will not only see Romita Jr. drawing Batman, but the issue debuts an all-new look for the Man of Steel. While it’s likely not as drastic a change as the electric blue suit debuted following “Return of Superman,” the copy does promise a “new costume, new powers and new friends and enemies.”

For those that missed the reveal of who exactly will be the new partner for the Dark Knight in “Batman and Robin” #38, the solicitations make it pretty clear — it’s Damian Wayne, and he’s got superpowers. Apparently, at least one of them is being bulletproof, but what lies in store for the just-resurrected hero remains to be seen.

Gail Simone’s new “Secret Six” ongoing continues in January, and with the New 52 take on the concept comes a new look for Catman, designed by series cover artist Dale Eaglesham.

“Justice League 3000” is set to continue its connective tissue with writers Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis’ “Justice League International.” Blue Beetle and Booster Gold are set to appear in December, and the bwa-ha-ha fun continues in January as Ice debuts as a future frost queen — and there may even be a Fire appearance in store.

Finally, for those waiting with baited breath since her appearance in the future-shifted “Batman” #28, Harper Row is finally set to take on the identity of Bluebird in January’s “Batman Eternal” #42, though the solicitations warn that the issue “may not have a happy ending.” Plus, “Batman Eternal” #43 promises to loop back to the future-shifted “Batman” issue “with a twist you won’t see coming.”
