‘Batman V Superman’ RUMORS: Gal Gadot Reveals Wonder Woman’s Superpowers

You have to have thick skin to be a superhero. You also have to have thick skin to play a superhero. That’s what Israeli actress Gal Gadot learned when it was announced that she would be taking on the role of Wonder Woman in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the subsequent “Wonder Woman” standalone film. Fans expressed doubt and downright criticism for the choice due to Gadot’s slight frame. However, Gadot finds these insults “amusing” and chalks it all up to “empty talk.”
Gadot has been hitting the weights hard with Gym Jones’ Mark Twight – the same trainer who helped Henry Cavill beef up for Superman – and isn’t worried about what the fans think.
“It was very intensive,” Gadot said of her training. “When I was young I was a real tomboy so I really enjoyed the experience. I see [my daughter] wanting to dress like a princess and put on lipstick and it surprises me. I asked my mom if I was like that too but she said all I wanted back then was to play ball, sweat, and scrape my knees.”
She’ll need all the extra strength she can get to stand toe to toe with Batman and Superman. At this time, it is unclear what superpowers Wonder Woman will possess in “Batman V Superman.” In the comics, her abilities were changed frequently, with some iterations granting her god-like strength and flight while others made her more earthly. A producer for “Batman V Superman” confirmed that this version will be the daughter of Zeus, but Gadot provided a more specific preview of what she will be capable of.
“She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She knows tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious woman.”
These comments raise some significant questions. If Wonder Woman can only “practically fly” does that mean she’ll rely on her famous invisible jet in the movie? Will she be more of a challenge for Batman instead of Superman? How will Zack Snyder’s grounded DC Movie Universe realistically introduce the daughter of Zeus?
However Warner Bros. approaches this character, it will be great to finally see a female super hero on the big screen (with all due respect to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow). But will it appease fans?
