A lot of things are about to change in the DC Comics universe, and now we know of one major change: one of the most iconic superhero characters of all time is about to have his secret identity revealed to the world.
This news comes courtesy of Bleeding Cool, who found several leaked images from the Free Comic Book Day title from DC Comics that unveiled the storyline.
So who is this character who is about to have his life change forever?
Please note that the following contains spoilers.
That character is none other than Superman, the alien from Krypton who saves the world on a daily basis, but also masquerades as a reporter named Clark Kent. And now we know that everyone will soon know that Clark Kent is also Superman.
Obviously, this changes everything for our favorite superhero in blue and red.
What’s even more interesting is the person responsible for revealing Superman’s secret identity as Kent to the world. It’s none other than Lois Lane.
Of course, in the older version of the Superman comics, Clark and Lois eventually married, but in the new 52, Superman is dating Wonder Woman instead. It’s also now highly unlikely that he and Lane will ever become an item, since her revealing him as Kent is the ultimate betrayal.
The leaked Free Comic Book Day pages also reveals that Commissioner Gordon is now Batman because the Batman before him is dead after a major battle went down in Gotham.
You can see these new stories yourself on Free Comic Book Day, which happens across the U.S. on May 2. To find your closest participating comic book store, visit the official Free Comic Book Day website.
Once you’ve found your local comic book shop, be sure to pick up a copy of the free DC title Divergence, which shows three 8-page previews for DC’s June releases, including Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman, Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok’s Justice League “Darkseid War” and Gene Luen Yang and John Romita, Jr.’s Superman.
