What would happen if Superman’s secret identity was revealed to the world — by none other than Lois Lane? And what if, just to make matters worse, his powers went on the fritz? He can’t fly. The Fortress of Solitude stops recognizing him as a Kryptonian and denies him entrance. It strips him of his armor and destroys his cape.

What in the world is going on? We don’t know and can’t wait to find out as writer Gene Luen Yang begins what’s sure to be a historic run on Superman this week.

Superman is without a doubt the biggest story of the week, but how would you like to see legions of Ultron robots and millions of zombies fight it out? Of course you would, you know you would.

Let’s dive into this week’s must-read comics.

Superman #41

DC says: The epic new storyline “TRUTH” continues with the debut of the amazing new creative team of new writer Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese) and continuing artists John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson! What will happen when the big secret is revealed?

Why you should care: FINALLY. After events from this issue being referenced in several other titles this month, the core Superman storyline launches its big new storyline at-freaking-last.

Batgirl #41

DC says: There’s a new Batman in town… and that spells bad news for Barbara Gordon! She’s already got enough upheaval in her life, with her roommate Frankie in on her biggest secret… and now she’s looking to get even more involved in Batgirl’s business!

Why you should care: Batgirl became a must-read title over the last year, so we can’t wait to see what happens when Barbara Gordon meets dear old dad (aka the new Batman) in the field. Especially since he doesn’t know (yet) that she’s a crime-fighter — and most definitely would not approve.

We Are Robin #1

DC says: Spinning out of the pages of BATMAN! The teenagers of Gotham City have adopted the “R” and made it their own. A new Robin? No, HUNDREDS of new Robins! Don’t miss the start of this new series from rising star writer Lee Bermejo (JOKER, SUICIDERS), who also provides the covers!

Why you should care: Just one of many titles to spin out of the Batman “Endgame” story arc, this one finds Gotham without a Robin. So the city’s teenagers form a gang — an army of good guys — to fight in his name.

The Walking Dead #143

Image says: A Union.

Why you should care: A union? What kind of description is that? What kind of “union”? That’s clearly Carl and Lydia on the cover, probably surrounded by Whisperers. Is Carl uniting with them? Are Carl and Lydia undergoing a marriage-type union among the Whisperers? Hmm.

Planet Hulk #2

Marvel says: Gladiator STEVE ROGERS, his trusty steed DEVIL DINOSAUR and the mysterious DOC GREEN go deeper into one of the most dangerous domains of BATTLEWORLD, the HULK infested territory known as GREENLAND! WILD HULKS in the jungle! GIANT HULKS in lakes of fire! But is the journey the most perilous part of this hellish mission or is it one of the travelers?

Why you should care: One of the most interesting titles to come out of Battleworld, this one surprised us with its engrossing, Shadow of Mordor-like tale of a lone wolf in a primitive land of monsters.

Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies #1

Marvel says: THE ULTIMATE DEATH SENTENCE IN BATTLEWORLD! There’s a place that’s so dangerous it’s walled off from the rest of BATTLEWORLD where WILD ZOMBIES feast on those who’ve been banished for crimes against the state, where cold, mechanical ULTRONS destroy anything that’s human. Pity those who get caught between the two, for their death WON’T be fast and painless!

Why you should care: Who can resist the appeal of egotistical robots vs. undead monsters? What we’re really wondering is why Doom created a so-called “perfect world” where either of these abominations were allowed to exist. We may or may not get the answer to that here, but it’s bound to be fun either way.

X-Men ’92 #1

Marvel says: Everyone’s favorite version of the X-Men from the ’90s is back! When Baron Kelly charges the Clear Mountain Project and it’s mysterious new director with “mutant rehabilitation,” it’s up to the X-Men to investigate! PLUS: Free Range Sentiels?!?

Why you should care: The crazy popular animated X-Men series that ran from 1992 to 1997 is back in this Battleworld comic book. It’s an all-new story starring Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee, Beast, Jean Grey, Rogue, Gambit and more. We don’t actually know if all of those characters will appear, but they were major players on the show, so here’s hoping.
