Warning: this article contains spoilers for Action Comics #963!

Superman has had a rough go of it over the past year, first having his secret identity leaked to the world and then dying and being replaced by his pre-Flashpoint self in “The Final Days of Superman.” Further complicating matters is the recent appearance of another, perfectly ordinary man who claims to be Clark Kent. Which one of these men is acually the real Superman?

That question remains, but at least Superman was able to reclaim his identity in this issue. Lex Luthor (now owner of the Daily Planet) held a press conference so this mysterious Clark Kent could explain to the public that he and Superman are two different people.

Few were convinced by this convoluted and implausible explanation, but Clark helped to sell his story when he managed to get himself thrown off the Geneticron building and rescued by a certain Man of Steel.

So it seems the DCU is ready to believe that Clark Kent and Superman are two different people again. But that doesn’t explain who this Clark Kent is, where he came from or what he’s really trying to accomplish in Metropolis. Look for that mystery to continue when Action Comics #964 ships on Wednesday, September 28.
