(MEREDITH) — It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the most famous superhero of all-time’s big day. Superman was created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel in 1933. He made his grand debut in Action Comics (later D.C. Comics) in 1938.

Since then, Superman has taken the skies in popularity, but did you know Kal-El was an inspiration for immigrants in the 1940s? Or, do you know which former Superman star is celebrating with fans in a small town in Illinois? Watch the video to learn what makes this day so Super.
